ABOUT
The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971 is a vinyl LP that captures the legendary jazz musician Don Cherry in a sublime performance with his long-time Don Cherry Trio members: Turkish drummer Okay Temiz and South African bassist Johnny Dyani.
Recorded at the iconic ORTF studios (Office de Radiodiffusion Télévision Française) in Paris in 1971 for the Sound and Vision program, this remarkable LP features Don Cherry, one of the paramount Jazz figures of all time, interpreting Turkish rhythms.
This release serves as the sequel to Okay Temiz's magnum opus, 'Okay Temiz's Oriental Wind at Montreux Jazz Festival 1982' LP, released worldwide by Caz Plak in 2022, and is the second chapter of Caz Plak's 'Turkish Jazz Trilogy'.
The "Don Cherry Trio—The ORTF Recordings Paris 1971" LP is particularly significant as it predates Don Cherry's groundbreaking 1973 album, "Organic Music Society," on which Okay Temiz also performed.
