ABOUT
DJ Spinna's beat tape on Redefinition, Unpicked Treats Volume Two. Returning with another batch of outstanding instrumentals in the trademark style he's known for, fans of volume one will be entertained without interruption. Volume Two is full of sample-packed boom-bap perfection, but this time, there's a twist in the plot. Known mostly for his production on hardware-based samplers since his career beginnings in the early 90s, the double threat producer tapped into his DJ skillset to compose all the tracks on this album exclusively using Serato's "Serato Sample" software. The software was imagined as a live performance tool for DJs, but in the hands of a genius like DJ Spinna, brace yourself for wonderous creativity as he ventured to be the first artist to use Serato Sample for a whole project. To date, his previous vinyl pressings sell relatively fast so prepare to grab a copy while they're in stock. Spinna has done it again!

DJ Spinna is something of an anomaly in music. A humbling example of what it takes to truly succeed within the framework of multiple fields. With a steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extent of his roots (Funk, Soul R&B and Jazz), foundation (Hip-Hop) and future (Electronic/Dance music) without any restraints. A cornerstone of Hip-Hop’s late 90’s indie-uprise, DJ Spinna made much of his first impression on listeners as the musical background of his group The Jigmastas (having released an impressive slew of 12” singles on his then self-run label Beyond Real during this time) as well as providing the canvas for an array of that era’s lyrical giants including Eminem, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and De La Soul. Turning heads throughout the industry, Spinna’s sonics soon infiltrated numerous genres. Tapped by everyone from Mary J. Blige, to Motown Records for his brilliant Michael Jackson remix of “We’re Almost There”.
